Your own rate is set by a credit assessment when you apply, and a weaker credit record carries a higher rate and a higher instalment. Rates are linked to the prime lending rate, so instalments rise and fall with it.

Each offer ends with a balloon payment, which is a lump sum owed as the final payment: a 72-month offer is 71 monthly instalments followed by the balloon.
